Our vision, mission and objectives
Al Noor is dedicated to the promotion of the love of Allah and the appreciation of the beauty of His creation through the guidance
of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) and reaping the fruits of following him. Al Noor recognizes and takes initiatives to promote sustainable self
transformation and spiritual refinement of the ethical character of all Zanzibaris through an Islamic ethical education and civil society
capacity building.
The following objectives form the basis of Al Noor operations and activities:
- Our programs comprise of a network of modest and functional multi-purpose community centres to complement the government secular
education system which lacks the basic teachings of Qur’an and Sunnah of Prophet Mohammad (PBUH).
- Al Noor needs sufficient funds to establish and sustain a large number of centres and the activities surrounding them, in order to provide services to the
destitute communities and establish revenue generating assets to complement and sustain community charity work.
- To establishing a revenue generating asset (as Waqf) to ensure that, once the facilities are established, their operational and maintenance costs would be
sustained, otherwise they would quickly revert to a state of disrepair and underutilisation which would defeat the original purpose of creating them.
- The budgetary reality: the key to sourcing the funds is in keeping the project costs low and following clear guidelines for funding proposals.
- Our community centres are constructed in under privilege and highly populated villages for the benefit of larger populations and for serving surrounding
villages.
- As a minimum, all our centres include a masjid, madrasas for girls and boys, and a waterwell to supply the scarce resource to the centre and the entire
village at large.
- The centres should serve as spiritual networks which will facilitate the upbringing of a new generation of young men and women through an understanding and
appreciation of the spiritual meaning of the great sources of Islamic teachings and way of life.
- Establish a centralised system for the management of the program and local supervision for each community centre. To optimize on the use of the facilities,
there should be coordination, sharing of knowledge and exchange of services among centres and their related facilities.
- Introduce creative and fun oriented programs/activities together with inspiring and tolerant speeches for students with the aim of bringing them closer to
masjids and madrasas.
The Prophet Muhammad (Peace and blessings of Allah be upon Him) said: “The best of alms is that, which the right hand gives and
the left hand knows not of." (Bukhari)
