Al Noor currently has more than 500 orphans under it's care, styudying in it's madrasas. We have adopted the belief that all orphans should be with their families and as no one can give them more love and care than their own mothers and grandmothers, and as such we don't believe in the use of orphanage centres.
We support the orphans under our care with whatever means we have with the aim of integrating them back into the society. In the past we helped some of them re-construct their homes and in some cases we even helped them build new houses. The rule of thumb is that whatever financial or material assistance we receive, our orphans get the first priority. All sponsorship money is given direct to the orphan and their family.
All orphans sponsored by our orphan scheme are individually selected, and only poor orphans (an orphan is a child whose father has passed away) are selected. Once sponsorship has begun our trained staff continue to maintain regular everyday contact with the child and their family to ensure that the child continues to progress through their schooling.
They ask thee, (O Muhammad), what they shall spend. Say: that which ye spend for good (must go) to parents and near kindred and orphans and the needy and the wayfarer. And whatsoever good ye do, lo! Allah is Aware of it. Surah 2 (Al-Baqara) Aya No. 215
